Waiting for the Fire: Discovering God’s Anointing in Numbers 11

Reading Numbers 11:24–30 felt like a spark inside my heart. Hindi naman speaking in tongues ang sinabi sa passage, pero yung pattern ng pagdating ng Holy Spirit, sobrang kahawig ng sa New Testament. The Spirit falls, fills them, and suddenly may supernatural utterance na lumalabas mula sa kanila. Na-amaze talaga ako, kasi habang binabasa ko ito, parang nararamdaman ko na ito rin mismo ang inaantay ko sa buhay ko.

Numbers 11:25

“Then the Lord came down in the cloud and spoke to him, and took of the Spirit that was upon him and placed the same upon the seventy elders. And when the Spirit rested upon them, they prophesied, although they never did so again.”

I’m waiting for the Holy Spirit to come like fire, the kind that brings power, strength, and anointing. At habang binabasa ko ang istoryang ito, nakita ko na hindi bago ang galaw ng Diyos. Sa Old Testament pa lang, ganyan na Siya kumilos, ganyan na Siya nagpo-power up ng mga taong tinawag Niya.

Dito ko rin napansin ang isang bagay na matagal ko nang naririnig, pero ngayon ko lang mas naintindihan: ang anointing ay nanggagaling kay God, pero madalas dumadaloy sa mga taong nasa presensya Niya.

Just like Elijah to Elisha.
Just like Moses to the 70 elders.

Si Moses ang pumili sa kanila, pero si God pa rin ang nagbigay ng Espiritu. Walang tao ang kayang magpasa ng anointing kung hindi kikilos ang Diyos. Pero dahil si Moses ay puspos ng presensya Niya, hindi na nakakapagtaka na yung mga nasa paligid niya ay nakaranas din ng anointing ng Diyos.

Doon ako napaisip nang malalim. Kailangan ko talagang ikonekta ang sarili ko sa mga taong nagdadala ng presensya ng Diyos. Kailangan kong manatili sa lugar kung saan gumagalaw ang Holy Spirit. Kailangan kong patuloy na lumakad kasama ng mga taong in-anoint ni Lord.

Kung bakit ako nasa lugar na kinalalagyan ko ngayon, iisa lang ang malinaw sa akin: God showed me a vision that His anointing is coming, but I must wait and persevere.

Habang hinihintay ko Siya, kailangan kong mag-pray, mag-strengthen ng faith, at manatiling kasama ng mga taong inilapit Niya sa akin. Pero kasabay nito, nandoon pa rin yung wisdom ng Holy Spirit sa puso ko: kilalanin ko ang mga taong nakakasama ko, tiyakin kong hindi ako nalalayo sa katotohanan, at higit sa lahat, manatili akong rooted sa Word of God, day and night.

And speaking of His Word, gusto ko ring i-share ang journey ko ngayon sa pagbabasa ng Bible. I've already finished the New Testament and currently stuck on 1 Chronicles, mula pa sa Genesis. Ang hirap mag-proceed kasi puro names and genealogies, tapos biglang may message pa from our church coordinator to read back the Pentateuch. Honestly, it saddened me na hindi ko agad nagawa. It took me days bago ko naisip na sana binasa ko na lang, and yes, I know I could’ve done it since napagdaanan ko na yung Pentateuch. Pero maybe it just wasn’t adding up for me and right now I can only review what has happened on those books as part of my obedience.

Still, my goal remains the same. I want to read the whole Bible first, bago ako pumunta sa mas malalim na pag-aaral. And despite the fast-paced reading, God is already showing me so many things. Ang dami Niyang nire-reveal, kahit hindi ako nagtatagal sa bawat chapter. His Word is alive, and it continues to shape me as I walk toward the anointing He promised.

As I wait for His fire, may the Lord continue to guide me, guard me, and prepare me for the anointing He has promised.
