Noe and The Revelation of Christ

This blog was encouraged by a preaching I heard last Sunday, which focused on the life of Noe.

God Saw Noe

Yes, Noe, the man who built the ark that saved eight people including himself, along with pairs of animals, through the instruction of God.

The preaching highlighted how God saw Noe as kalugod-lugod, matuwid, at mabuti. Scripture says that Noe found favor in the eyes of the Lord and walked with God in a time when the whole world was filled with corruption.

Genesis 6:8–9 – “But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord… Noah walked with God.”

This reminds us that righteousness and goodness are not self-made. They are anchored in God. True righteousness is living for His glory and according to His will.

Obedience Even When It Is Hard

Noe was submissive and obedient to the Word of God. God was meticulous with the measurements and details of the ark, yet Noe followed everything exactly as instructed.

Genesis 6:22 – “Noah did this; he did all that God commanded him.”

Obedience was not convenient. Noe obeyed even when it took years, even when no one else understood.

When You Feel Alone, God Still Sees You

One strong reminder from the preaching is that God sees everything. While the whole world was doing evil, God noticed one man who remained faithful.

Proverbs 15:3 – “The eyes of the Lord are in every place.”

When you feel like you are alone in staying faithful, remember that this is not a burden but a privilege. God sees His people the same way He saw Noe.

The Cost and Reward of Faithfulness

God is faithful to reward obedience, but not all rewards mean comfort. Sometimes, the reward is a great responsibility that only a few can carry.

Noe was called when he was around 500 years old, and the flood came when he was 600. That hundred-year season of obedience is barely described in Scripture. Only God and Noe truly know what those years were like.

Hebrews 11:7 – “By faith Noah… became an heir of the righteousness that comes by faith.”

A Father’s Declaration Matters

Another powerful detail worth noting is the declaration made by Lamec, Noe’s father, at his birth.

Genesis 5:28–29 – “He called his name Noah, saying, ‘This one shall bring us relief from our work and from the painful toil of our hands.’”

Before Noe built the ark, words of faith were already spoken over his life. Parents are called not only to bless their children, but to declare that they are part of God’s solution for their generation.

From Noe to Christ

After the flood, Noe built an altar and offered a sacrifice to God. This was not commanded, yet it flowed naturally from a heart that knew who God is and what He deserves. God received the offering and established a covenant, promising that the world would never again be destroyed by flood.

Genesis 8:20–21

Here, we begin to see how Noe’s life quietly points us to Christ.

Noe was spoken over at birth by his father Lamec, declaring that he would bring relief in a cursed world. In the same way, Jesus was declared even before His birth, not only as relief, but as the Savior of the world.

Noe was seen by God while the whole earth was corrupt. Jesus came into a world fully broken by sin, yet lived without sin, making Him pleasing before God.

Noe obeyed God completely, even when obedience required years of unseen labor and endurance. Jesus also obeyed the Father fully, even when obedience led to the cross.

Noe offered a sacrifice that pleased God after judgment had passed. Jesus became the greater and final sacrifice, not after judgment, but to save us from it.

Noe saved a few and became the beginning of a renewed human generation. Jesus saves all who believe and creates a new family, sons and daughters of God, born not of flesh, but of faith.

Noe was faithful, but Jesus is greater.
Noe preserved life, Jesus gives eternal life.
Noe was a servant, Jesus is the Son.

What was once a shadow in Noe’s story is now fully revealed in the Gospel.

Jesus reigns.

Closing Prayer

Lord God,

As we read Your Word and continue to grow spiritually and biblically, shaping both our mind and soul, we pray that You would always open our eyes to see Jesus in every page of Scripture. Teach us to recognize Your truth, to walk in obedience like Noe, and to trust You even when the path is long and unseen.

May our lives bring You glory, not for our own name, but for Yours alone. Strengthen our faith, anchor our hearts in Your will, and help us live in a way that points others to Christ.

Glory to God. Amen.
