A Nightmare or a Message? The Holy Spirit Be Revealed

1 Corinthians 12:3
“No one can say, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ except by the Holy Spirit.”

My Dream: A Simple Hut, Two Boys, and a Question

It began in a small hut. I was talking with two young boys.
One looked innocent, like he knew almost nothing about spiritual things.
The other seemed more aware, as if he had some background knowledge.

The first boy asked me about the Holy Spirit.
The second grabbed my notes and read them too quickly, like he wanted to understand everything before I could speak. Then he suddenly said, “I’m actually from another religion.”

And somehow, the pieces in my mind started to connect.

I explained the difference between the Holy Spirit and our conscience.
I said, “The Holy Spirit always leads us to truth, always toward what is right, always toward Jesus. Our conscience simply tells us when we do something wrong.”

Then I asked, “Do you know how to receive the Holy Spirit?”

I explained how, in the Old Testament, the Spirit came upon people temporarily. But in the New Testament, the Spirit now dwells within those who believe in Jesus. I told them that receiving the Holy Spirit begins by accepting Christ.

A Strange Voice and a Heavy Feeling

I heard a voice say, “How come from Holy Spirit, now speaking about Jesus?”
It felt like a rebuke.
I didn’t know who it was for, or what it meant, yet it brought a sudden heaviness to my heart. My breathing grew tight. But even with that weight, I kept sharing the Gospel.

Moments later, a group of young men arrived, maybe four or five, with a small child among them. Some sat and ate beside us, listening quietly. Others stood together behind someone who seemed like their leader. They weren’t aggressive, but they were observant.

As I spoke about the Holy Spirit and the truth of Jesus Christ, the leader suddenly stood up. Without looking at me, he walked away and said,
“We already know that. Don’t make us what? Ignorant?”

They continued walking.

And something inside me stirred with a holy boldness.
I called out, my voice trembling,
“If you know everything, then why can’t you proclaim that Jesus is Lord right now?”

None of them turned back.

A Child’s Whisper

Only the small child stayed.
He stood in front of me, smiling from ear to ear, nodding as if he wanted to speak.
So I leaned down to hear him.

With a soft and gentle voice he whispered,
“I may be a child and don’t understand everything yet, but I do believe in what you said.”

And then I woke up.

The Weight That Stayed With Me

When I woke, I felt a heaviness in my chest, the same weight I usually feel after a nightmare or sleep paralysis. But this time it stayed, almost as if God wanted me to sit with it.

The voice in my dream replayed in my mind.
It sounded sarcastic, familiar, almost like someone I trusted.
That part hurt.
It reminded me that sometimes the words that wound us the most come from those close to us, even in dreams.

But the heaviness wasn’t meant to scare me.
It was meant to teach me — to pay attention to what I say and how I live. God was showing me that even good intentions can hurt if my life doesn’t match my words.

A Mirror to My Life

I reflected on the people around me. Maybe without realizing it, I have made some feel uncomfortable with my words or expectations.

I didn’t have to look far — my wife reminded me.
Her struggles in faith are not because she wasn’t taught.
They are because I didn’t always model my words consistently.
I spoke well, but I didn’t always live well.

God used this dream as a gentle rebuke.
There is more meaning than I understand, but one thing is clear:

I am called to continue, but to be careful.
Careful with my words.
Careful with my example.
Careful with my influence.

Lessons from the Dream

  • Continue even when it gets hard.

  • Be prepared and watchful.

  • Be an example, not just a speaker.

  • Trust the Holy Spirit to guide, correct, and teach you in every situation.

Scripture Anchor

Philippians 1:6
“Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

Prayer

My God, You are my strength. You will never leave me nor forsake me. Help me trust You as I fight the good fight of faith and run the race You have set before me.

Thank You for the Holy Spirit dwelling within me. I am never alone. Thank You for the victories already won and those still ahead.

You are my Lord and Savior. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
